Soil
Fertility Management – AgSkill,
Inc. obtains two composite soil samples from
each field under contract prior to the growing season. A
surface sample is submitted for a complete analysis while
a subsoil sample is submitted for nitrogen analysis only.
A fertilizer recommendation is then devised to meet the
crop needs. In many cases, little or no fertilizer actually
needs to be applied which can translate into added savings
for producers. Soil sampling followed by appropriate fertilizer
recommendations can help to preserve our environment by
avoiding excessive use of fertilizers. |

| Weekly Field Checks Include: |

| |
Irrigation
Management - AgSkill, Inc.
schedules irrigation to achieve a goal of high yields while
conserving water. Our agronomists monitor the soil moisture
to a 3-foot depth. The information obtained is used with the
daily consumptive use of the crop to properly time irrigations
at the most critical stages of crop growth. |

|
Weed Management
- AgSkill, Inc. agronomists
also survey for potential weed problems from early on in the growing
season. A weed management program is tailored based on the need
to control specific weeds economically while preventing crop injury |
|
Insect Management
– Both beneficial insects and crop insect pests are monitored
throughout the growing season. Insecticide treatments are recommended
only when an economic threshold is reached. In this manner, a producer
can be confident that the pesticide is applied only when needed
to protect the crop. |
| |
| Plant
Disease Management – Fields are scouted
for the presence of plant diseases during the growing season.
Information gathered from the field check is used in conjunction
with weather data to determine the necessity of fungicide
applications only when crop health is threatened |
